911±¬ÁÏÍø

La Maison Française at 911±¬ÁÏÍø is both a residence hall as well as a staple of French culture in the Rochester area. Each year la Maison Française welcomes up to 12 students interested in French language and francophone cultures as well as those hailing from francophone countries.

This spacious converted mansion also serves as a meeting place for the 911±¬ÁÏÍø French Cub, and other cultural groups devoted to the promotion of French language and Francophone cultures in Rochester. It also hosts stand alone events for Rochester-area Francophiles. Cultural dinners, conversation groups, lectures, movies, or exhibits are among the countless events offered by La Maison each semester.

La Maison is very humbled to have won the state wide "Friend of World Language" Award on March 21, 2026. Please check the award story.Ìý

French Language Courses & Cultural Events

Living at the French House

The French House offers 911±¬ÁÏÍø students a very different experience from living in a dorm. It's a home away from home. Time at the French House deeply transforms the lives of student residents who develop a special bond with international students from France and the warm, friendly environment they cultivate! Contact Dr. Mireille Le Breton, mlebret5@naz.edu, to learn how to apply.

Conversation Hour

Conversation hours are held by French-speaking and native students.

Film and Conversation Series

The annual series is sponsored by the French program and La Maison Française.

French Choir and Children Choir

The French House is proud to sponsor the Franco American singing group (aka the FA singing group), composed of 911±¬ÁÏÍø students, faculty, and staff, as well as Rochester community members. The French singing group meets to enjoy singing in French and other languages, and to offer performances for the 911±¬ÁÏÍø and Rochester communities. A French children choir will also soon be created in partnership with opera singers and music aficionados.Ìý
