This experiential learning program, in partnership with , brings you to the heart of London. Explore the iconic arts scene through masterclasses with theatre professionals, and courses taught by distinguished faculty at the University of Roehampton and Shakespeare's Globe. Applicants are selected through a competitive process.
Train with professionals from London’s theatre scene in studios that host auditions andrehearsals for West End shows. Your training will be anchored in several core classessuch as ballet, contemporary dance, acting for film, and acting on song. In addition, youwill attend mock auditions where you will hone your ability to pick up choreographyquickly and with specificity, and prepare song cuts appropriate for the show of the week.Weekly workshops will also be offered in a wide range of areas such as Star WarsCreature Performance, How to Crush it as a Swing, Working with a Director, Puppetry,and more. You will take seven 45-minute voice lessons with a master voice coach, andalso have the option to complete a stage combat certification through the BritishAcademy of Dramatic Combat (BADC).
Supplement your time in the studio with an overview of London’s theatre scene andculture through a course called Introduction to the London Stage, offered by theUniversity of Roehampton. You will attend a theatre production every week as a class,from the large West End musicals to the National Theatre to intimate pub theatres. Yourcoursework will analyze these shows and what they say about British culture and theLondon of today.
Study with actors and directors at Shakespeare’s Globe as you work toward a finalperformance on the Globe Theatre stage. You will also have the unique opportunity towork in the indoor, candlelit Sam Wanamaker Theatre and attend at least threeproductions at The Globe during your time as a student. Classes will follow a seminarand practical strand, with sessions in acting, movement, voice, text, clowning, lectures,actor/director Q&As, and more. Explore every corner of the Globe Theatre in a“Heaven to Hell” private tour beginning far above the stage and ending beneath thestage peering up through the Elizabethan-era trapdoor.

This program runs every fall semester from mid-September through mid-December.Students must arrive at Heathrow Airport - London (LHR) before 1:00pm on arrival day.A PAA representative will be waiting at a pre-arranged meeting point, and you will bedirected to a bus that will take you to your housing in central London. Students whowish to arrive early, remain in London after the end of the program, or travel after theend of the semester must make their own arrangements.
ON ARRIVAL:
Upon arriving at your flat in central London you will have time to unpack and settle in,then will join a welcome dinner and orientation hosted by PAA’s site director. Thefollowing day you will travel to the University of Roehampton to complete a mandatoryimmigration check and attend a university orientation.
A TYPICAL DAY:
The following week will give you a chance to acquaint yourself with the city, learn thetransportation system, and attend a PAA excursion. Classes will begin shortly thereafter.For the rest of the program, you will be living in central London, attending West End,Globe, and Roehampton classes, and exploring the city on your own as a student inLondon. We will provide excursions and cultural activities throughout your semester,and several day trips included in the cost of the program.
911 the Location
London is arguably the most important city in the world for theatre. The West Endpulses with energy and crowds every night of the week. The range of venues isimpressive, from tiny studio theatres above neighborhood pubs to the 2,359 seatLondon Coliseum and everything in between. For most shows, you can find decenttickets for under $50. London is also a jumping-off point for exploring other parts ofEurope, and many students choose to take advantage of time off to visit other countriesand other part of the United Kingdom.
Housing
Students will live in central London flats, shared only with other students on the sameprogram. The specific location of each semester’s housing will be finalized about onemonth before the arrival date, but should always be within Zones 1 and 2 on the LondonUnderground (within about a half hour to 45 minute commute to Shakespeare’s Globeand the West End studios where you will be training).
Students pay 911 tuition and retain their full 911 financial aid packages.

Students will be responsible for arranging and paying for their round-trip airfare.911 will advise all students of the best flight connections for timelyarrival at the study site. Questions about travel are amply covered at orientationmeetings on the 911 Campus, via Zoom, or to visiting students throughadvisement by telephone or email. All students will be met at Heathrow Airport - Londonby a PAA representative.
All students will need a valid passport that continues to be valid at least six months afterthe conclusion of the semester program in England, and an Electronic TravelAuthorisation (ETA) which will be secured via an official UK government app, withguidance from PAA.
It is mandatory to take a valid student ID from the home campus, and is recommendedthat you travel with a second form of official ID, such as a Driver's License, in the eventa Passport is lost. You must also bring proof of health insurance.
